Officer On Duty Movie Review | Action-Packed Crime Thriller
Officer on Duty, the latest criminal investigation thriller starring Kunchacko Boban and starring Priyamani as the female lead, was released in Malayalam on February 20. With the same title, the Telugu version of the movie has already been released. See how it performs by reading our review.
Kunchacko Boban’s character, suspended Circle Inspector Hari Shankar, returns to work. Because of his intimidating demeanor, he frequently gets into problems with his coworkers. On the first day of his reinstatement, Hari is given a gold chain theft case. He calls a female to the police station as part of the investigation, but she tragically dies inexplicably.

After Hari’s inquiry reveals shocking incidents, the girl’s father accuses him of being responsible for her passing. Why did the girl commit suicide? Is it connected to the death of Hari’s daughter? What role does the Bengaluru gang play in these incidents? Why does Geetha (Priyamani), Hari’s wife, want a divorce? How does Hari ultimately crack the case and apprehend the murderers? The rest of the story is made up of the responses.
By giving the main actors compelling characterizations, director Jithu Ashraf establishes the mood early on with an engrossing story. It is amazing how the protagonist Hari’s own tragedy is progressively revealed. The film features a number of suspenseful and tense situations that are expertly performed.
It is one of Kunchacko Boban’s best performances. His performance in the emotionally charged and high-action scenes reaffirmed his mastery of his art. Priyamani does the part convincingly. She does well in scenarios that are emotionally charged. The parts where the antagonist and the hero encounter one other are captivating.
The film fails to properly captivate the audience despite its exciting idea. The storyline occasionally feels thin, which detracts from the film’s fascinating quality, even if director Jithu Ashraf did a respectable job with it. The suspense element was not maintained in some moments.
The pivotal second half drags on and feels sluggish. The movie emphasizes the dangers and difficulties the protagonist faces on the job as a CI, however it dilutes the story with pointless side stories. The pre-climax action scenes are wildly unrealistic and excessively dramatic.
The work of cinematographer Roby Varghese Raj during action scenes and pivotal moments is noteworthy. Although Chaman Chakko has sharp scissors, he could have cut down on some of the slower scenes. As always, Jakes Bejoy’s amazing background score serves to effectively accompany the narrative. Because of the high standards set by producers Martin Prakkat, Ciby Chavara, and Ranjith Nair, the movie has a pleasing visual aesthetic.
Conclusion:
Officer on Duty provides a combination of family sentiments and crime investigation, with a special emphasis on father-daughter relationships. There are not enough captivating scenes in the movie to keep the audience interested until the very end. Only lovers of the crime thriller genre will find the film intriguing due to its dull plot and cliched storytelling.
