It is also the 50th milestone project for producer Dil Raju and Shankar’s first Telugu film. The picture, which was much anticipated, eventually debuted in theaters throughout the world today, over four years after it was first announced. Let us examine the review to determine whether it lives up to the anticipation.
Story: Watchable political game, Ram Charan’s Game Changer
A recently hired collector in Visakhapatnam, Ram Nandan IAS (Ram Charan), is renowned for his unwavering commitment and sincerity. He is at conflict with Bobbili Mopidevi (SJ Suryah), the son of Chief Minister Sathyamurthy (Srikanth), who is heavily involved in criminal activity, because of his unwavering pursuit of justice.
Mopidevi, frustrated by Ram’s meddling, schemes his demise and suspends him on fictitious grounds. But just when Mopidevi appears to be winning, CM Sathyamurthy unexpectedly changes the political scene by suggesting Ram to succeed him as chief minister. A high-stakes contest of cunning and might ensues. Will Ram be able to take on the role of CM? To what extent will Mopidevi go in order to fulfill his goals? This compelling political drama holds the answers.
Advantages:
In two different roles, Ram Charan gives outstanding performances. He has a strong command of the screen and is an honest and powerful IAS officer. His well-executed confrontational sequences with antagonist SJ Suryah are among the movie’s highlights. Ram Charan, on the other hand, plays Appanna with ease. He is a stuttering man who is motivated by his idea of a political system that does not use money. His performance is powerful and feels real.
As the opponent who is adamant about becoming Andhra Pradesh’s next chief minister, SJ Suryah is equally remarkable. His strong on-screen persona, skillful delivery of speech, and nuanced facial expressions elevate the story, especially when he interacts with Ram Charan.
Anjali makes a big impression even with her little screen time. She does a good job handling her emotional passages, particularly the end of her arc.
Sunil makes the most of his fleeting cameos, while Kiara Advani does a respectable job as Ram Charan’s love interest. Jayaram, who plays SJ Suryah’s brother, does his job well and adds a little humor.
The frantic cat-and-mouse game between SJ Suryah’s Mooidevi and Ram Charan’s Ram Nandan is one of the movie’s most captivating elements. Among the most memorable parts of the movie are their confrontations, particularly in the second half.
Shankar’s vision is greatly supported by Thaman’s background score, which heightens the film’s dramatic and emotional impact. Additionally, the supporting cast does a good job in their roles.
Disadvantages:
While Ram Charan excels in both roles, the second character could have been explored further, particularly in the film’s latter half. The emotional depth in the second half feels underdeveloped, leaving certain key moments less impactful. The story, though engaging, is not particularly groundbreaking. Certain scenes in the first half could have been executed with more finesse, and the inclusion of random romantic sequences disrupts the otherwise serious tone of the narrative.
Additionally, a few moments rely heavily on cinematic liberties, which may not sit well with all viewers. The “Jaragandi” song may not meet the expectations of fans looking for Shankar’s trademark grandeur. The omission of the “Naanaa Hyraanaa” song is another drawback, especially for those anticipating its visual appeal on the big screen.
Technical Features:
Although a few sequences in both half may have been done better, TechniShankar shows that he can write a respectable political play.
The picture benefits greatly from Thaman’s music, which heightens the drama and depth of the emotions. Shameer and Ruben’s editing makes sure the movie keeps a fast tempo, while Tirru’s cinematography masterfully conveys the story. Rich and up to par are the production values.
Conclusion:
On the whole, Game Changer is a decent political drama that benefits from stellar performances. Ram Charan excels in both roles, while SJ Suryah matches his intensity with a compelling performance. Their confrontations are a highlight of the film. However, the lack of emotional depth in the second half and a few unnecessary scenes diminish the overall impact. Despite these shortcomings, the film is watchable, especially for fans of political dramas.
